The first high relief coin to be created in this size, the Australian Koala release represents the very best in minting excellence and design.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from an impressive 5oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
Depicting an adult koala sitting on a branch of a eucalyptus tree surrounded by gum leaves, the coin’s reverse also includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KOALA, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the 2013 year-date.
Both sides of the coin are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and the monetary denomination.
No more than 5,000 of these 2013 Australian Koala 5oz Silver Proof High Relief Coins will be released by The Perth Mint.
The coin is housed in a display case, which comes with a beautiful koala illustrated shipper and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
