A New Program Is In Place To Protect Ipswich Koalas

Council’s first Koala Conservation Agreement was officially signed on the 3rd of June at the Mt Forbes headquarters of the Ipswich Koala Protection Society (IKPS).

Under the partnership, Ipswich Council will support IKPS property owner Ruth Lewis with a range of measures such as free tree allocations, weed control rebates and fencing installation funding.

Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said the move was part of council’s commitment to protecting the world-renowned Aussie icon.
