Sir Richard Branson Is Creating A Koala Haven At Noosa

Sir Richard Branson has opened his Noosa home to a Koala conservation initiative at Makepeace Island.

Working with Brett Godfrey (Makepeace’s co-owner), Professor Peter Timms, Dr Jon Hangar, the Makepeace conservation initiative will focus on reducing the mortality rate of koalas.

The island is planned to be utilised as a koala holding enclosure, free from domestic and feral animals, and central to the Noosa region. Koalas will be transferred to the island for sampling, tagging and veterinary checks, to then be moved when the koalas are ready to areas best suited for rehabilitating koala populations.
